The kids are eating ice cream, leaving mother-of-two Giselle Brand to monitor her $600,000 worth of shares on the market. Mrs Brand, 36, is among a growing group of people - women in particular - quitting full time jobs to trade stocks from home.
'We are seeing lots of people like Giselle. People are making lifestyle choices,' said chief analyst at financial training firm Wealth Within Institute, Dale Gillham, who has mentored Mrs Brand for more than two years.
Mr Gillham said more people were becoming interested in trading, many of them women. While Mrs Brand didn't make much money in 2004 during her first training year, she has in the last eight months hit a 'tipping point' and the profits are now 'rolling in'.
Mr Gillham has developed Australia's first Diploma in Share Trading and Investment.
