Market Quiet Ahead of Anzac Day; Quarterly CPI Figure to Determine RBA’s Next Move
Proactive Investors New - 24 Apr. 23
With Anzac Day falling on a Tuesday this year and many Aussies extending the school holidays by a day, it is unsurprising the market is flat today. Wealth Within chief analyst and founder Dale Gillham expects any downward movements to be short-lived. Last week was largely flat with all of the major indices barely moving into positive or negative territory so far. This is not surprising following the strong growth we’ve seen on the All-Ordinaries Index, as it has risen over 6% since the low on March 20. I mentioned in my last report that I believe in the short term the All Ordinaries Index may have one or two weeks down in the next month. While this week is not technically a down week, if the market closes lower today, then this is a good sign that the fall I am expecting will most likely occur next week. Good solid stocks always alert us to what we might expect in the future and there are certainly many that are giving me confidence about our market for the rest of 2023...

How to Save For a Deposit Even Faster
Domain - 22 Apr. 23
Although it's riskier than a savings account, investing in shares can be a straightforward way to grow a deposit while establishing good financial habits. Dale Gillham, an investing expert and founder of wealth management business Wealth Within, says novice investors should stick to the top 20 shares on the Australian Stock Exchange. "Don't try to be the market wizard, just but the big stocks," he says. "Keep doing it until you've got 8 to 12 stocks in your portfolio of those top 20." Gillham says investors typically receive more in dividend income from shares than they would in interest if their money was in a bank account...

Strategy Is Key: How Investing Is Like Formula One
Money Magazine - 31 Mar. 23
Money Magazine ran an article based on Wealth Within founder and analyst Dale Gillham's weekly market wrap ‘Strategy is key: How investing is like Formula One' - As I sat down at my desk today to write this, I could hear the sounds of the Formula One cars racing around the Albert Park track in Melbourne practicing for Sunday's big race. We all like speed and the adrenaline rush that racing provides, and we also like the thrill of making money. Here's how Formula One and investing align. Just like F1 racing, where drivers carefully strategise when to make a pit stop or to overtake a competitor, investors must also have a well-thought-out strategy. To succeed, they must know how they'll make money from the market, which means they need to understand their goals, tolerance to risk and investment horizon...

The Top Investing Trends You Won’t Want to Miss for 2023
Australian Financial Review - 29 Mar. 23
These are interesting times for investors. The relentlessly upward direction of the stock market in the post-GFC decade has given way to a more volatile state of affairs. For many investors, optimism has been replaced by caution, says Dale Gillham, chief analyst of financial services company Wealth Within. And that may result in the emergence of an investor trend that he says is a perennial. “Hundreds of years of history tells us what generally occurs: the masses buy near the top and sell near the bottom,” Gillham says. However, some people recognise that a downturn is just part of a cycle and may spell opportunity. “A smaller percentage know that good times never last and neither do bad times,” Gillham says. “They have a solid plan that allows them to block out the noise of the market and be impartial with their decisions so that they can invest at the appropriate times...

It Takes More Than Five Years to Save a Home Deposit, But Here's How To Do It Quicker
Domain - 22 Mar. 23
It now takes an average first-home buyer couple more than five years to build up a deposit to buy an entry-level home in Australia’s capital cities, according to the Domain First Home Buyer Report, but there are ways to accelerate the saving process that don’t involve the bank of mum and dad. Investing expert and founder of wealth management business Wealth Within, Dale Gillham, says novice investors and those looking to build up a deposit should stick to the top 20 shares on the Australian Stock Exchange. “Each time your bank account gets above $1000, use that to buy good quality blue-chip shares,” he says. “Don’t try to be the market wizard, just buy the big stocks. Keep doing it until you’ve got 8 to 12 stocks in your portfolio of those top 20.” Gillham says investors will receive more in dividend income from shares than they would in interest if their money was in a bank account...
