Finder’s RBA survey: $180K is now the minimum income needed to service a $500K mortgage
Finder.com.au - 05 Dec. 22
In this month’s Finder RBA Cash Rate Survey, 40 experts and economists weighed in on future cash rate moves and other issues relating to the state of the economy. The majority of panellists (88%, 35/40) correctly predicted a cash rate rise in December by 25 basis points – bringing it to 3.10%, up 300 basis points from 0.10% earlier this year. Less than half of experts (43%, 17/40) expect the RBA to raise the cash rate at its first meeting in February next year. Dale Gillham Wealth Within chief analyst was featured as one of the contributing experts to the RBA survey of Finder.com.au. Here's what Dale had to say, "The economy is still doing good and inflation is moving up. More needs to be done to slow this...

Where is ZIP Heading?
Proactive Investors New - 05 Dec. 22
Wealth Within chief analyst Dale Gillham analyses the performance of Zip Co Ltd and where it is heading into 2023. Will Zip Co Ltd (ASX:ZIP) return to its stellar high of $14.53? ZIP became the stock of choice for many investors after rising from just a few cents when it launched in 2013 to the high of $14.53 in February 2022. But that all ended when the stock crashed heavily, falling more than 95% to a low of $0.43 on June 29. Sadly, this not only wiped out the profits of many investors but also took the capital of those who were late to the bandwagon. Was the rise of ZIP just a bubble? ZIP’s vision is to be the next generation of payments helping consumers and business take control of their financial future...

Is a Recession Bad for the Stock Market?
Proactive Investors New - 25 Nov. 22
"If everyone is afraid of the stock market, this spells opportunity for those who remain unemotional and patient," Dale Gillham, chief analyst of Wealth Within said of the upside to the recession we all think is coming. Today I was reminded about investor psychology and the old saying that if you follow the masses, you’re probably going in the wrong direction. Everyone seems to be talking about a world recession in 2023, with some arguing that the US is already in recession and that Europe and the rest of the world will follow. But is this really bad for the stock market? The answer may surprise you because it is contrary to what the masses are spruiking, particularly as recessions are generally good for the stock market. A recession is defined as two negative quarters of GDP. Australia experienced a technical recession in the years 2000, 2006, 2018 and 2020. Each time the market had a short dip before rising strongly. The recession in 2020 was a little different – it was event-driven and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw the world quickly shut down while the other recessions simply slowed the economy. The question right now is if Australia does go into a recession in 2023, will the stock market dip again?...

The Crippling Nature of Crypto
Money Magazine - 18 Nov. 22
Money Magazine ran an article based on Wealth Within founder and chief analyst Dale Gillham. He advised the collapse of FTX this week, the second-largest crypto exchange, has sent a stark warning to all about the risks in the cryptocurrency space. The collapse also brings to light how far this asset has to go in terms of shedding the label that cryptocurrencies are akin to the Wild West. A lot has been written about the collapse of FTX and the highly speculative investments they made with client's money that ultimately led to its downfall. Interestingly, a lot of high profile athletes and other well-known people were caught up in the debacle. There were also companies that got caught in the collapse including Telstra Ventures and Sequoia Capital. Despite recognising the high risk nature of such investments, venture capital companies are often caught in a 'dammed if you do and dammed if you don't' situation, as they appreciate the need to invest in growth areas without leaving their run too late...

RBA Smashes the Interest Rate Button for the Seventh Time
The Latch - 01 Nov. 22
Aussie mortgage holders have been dealt a seventh consecutive rate hike and can expect to pay hundreds more in interest per month. The Reserve Bank of Australia officially lifted the interest rate by 25 basis points, bringing it to a total of 2.75%. “As is the case in most countries, inflation in Australia is too high,” the RBA said in a statement explaining the decision. Dale Gillham founder of wealth management firm Wealth Within said the next few months into 2023 will see inflation rise. “The biggest pressure on inflation is energy costs and I do not think we are doing enough to curb this,” said Gillham. “While housing costs are somewhat easing, we are seeing rent and interest rates increasing, putting further pressure on households. Now with all the floods, food and other costs will rise...
